Filipino-Malaysian joint venture building mini-hydropower projects in Cebu
A local renewable energy developer has partnered with a Malaysian backed firm for the development of mini-hydro projects in Cebu, the Department of Energy (DOE) said over the weekend.
Mario C. Marasigan, DOE Renewable Energy director, said Meadowland Developers Inc and Green Innov Energy have teamed up for several hydropower projects.
“Yung groundbreak nila sa Badian, Cebu that’s 500 kilowatts tapos yung ni-launch nila in Carmen, Cebu 400 kilowatts,” Marasigan said.
The projects will harness tailwater or runoff water from existing hydroelectric power facilities run by Cebu Electric Cooperative Inc in the island-province to generate electricity.
